Some moments are so rare they require frames. Cantor Gilat carefully
crafts ceremonies for just such moments. Whether a baby naming,
Bar/Bat mitzvah, home dedication, or wedding ritual, each is warm
and welcoming, inclusive, poetic and melodic. Blessings are
interspersed with poetry and folksong from many cultures, and each
ceremony is specific to the needs of the couple, teen or family.
Baby namings are sendoffs for a tiny new life. They may include within them the ritual of Brit Milah for a boy (by
a Mohel) or a simple, beautiful celebration of the baby with blessings, prayers of well-being, melodies and other
wishes.
Bar mitzvah and Bat mitzvah training includes study of the service and text in a unique way (each according to
his/her capability and temperament). Gilat draws on each child’s talents and has the ability to bring out the best
in each of her students, and shapes a service that truly reflects the child’s learning process.
Weddings are joyous occasions with the emphasis on JOY. Performing Jewish and Jewish based Interfaith
marriages, Cantor Gilat designs a personal ritual that reflects the couple. Gilat explains the ritual as it proceeds,
interweaving poems and melodies as she goes.
